Making Herbal Remedies & Water Magic

FREE AND OPEN TO ALL!

This winter we’ll be getting into our kitchens to make an Herbal Cough Syrup together for soothing your throat, and supporting your immunity in the fall and winter months. There are many incredible recipes for a good cough syrup, and in this one we’ll use hibiscus flowers, plantain leaf, marshmallow root, licorice and honey.

These everyday herbalism classes guided by Crystal Marie Higgins are fun and interactive ways to learn more about the power of what is called “kitchen herbalism”—wonderful herbs that you can experiment with in the kitchen as well as the properties for your health).

You will receive a grocery list upon registration, and everyone is invited to be in their kitchen making herbal cough syrup together during the hour-long interactive class. (Or feel free to listen in if you prefer to make it later.) You’ll be able to ask questions as we make some good medicine!

As part of class, you’ll also receive the recipe we use (which you can modify to your liking!) and tips, so you can share this powerful remedy with others! This class is open to those who are curious, and want to deepen their awareness of working with what Crystal calls our “green allies.”

NOTE : Herbalism doesn’t have to be put in the place of/either/or — working with plants can support anything else you are doing to support your system and overall health. All of our ancestors at some point had a deep connection to the land, to the herbs and plants or green realm, to the animals and waters in order to survive. This connection to our roots and deeper belonging was severed, and it is time to reclaim the wisdom we all long for again.

About the Kitchen Herbalism series

The deep and powerful wisdom of the herbal realm has mostly been forgotten in our modern culture. Plants, flowers, trees and herbs are incredible allies for our health. There is deep solace to be found in the simplest of rituals like sipping a cup of herbal tea or rubbing oil on your temples and feet at the end of the day. And knowing what herbs can support your system when you feel sick or overwhelmed is powerful.
